JAGS CHORAL SOCIETY

Our Charity Work
in January 2025 the committee approved plans to hold a termly raffle for the benefit of music charities
Our research shows that there are four types of music charity:
Charities that help unwell individuals through the use of music therapy
eg the Nordoff and Robbins Music Therapy Charity
Charities that support professional musicians in times of injury or illness
eg Help Musicians and the Royal Society of Music
Charities that help individuals take part in music
eg South London Community Music or the National Youth Orchestra
and especially for our interest as a choir :
Charities that support choirs
eg The Liberty choir
And other Musical related charities
eg Constella Music: Orchestras of Auschwitz
We aim to choose each charity in rotation and after the choral society vote at our last rehearsal we are starting with Charities who help non musicians in need through music

Nordoff and Robbins - the UK's music therapy charity
We deliver music therapy to individuals across the UK, including some of the most vulnerable people in society.
In 1959, American musician Paul Nordoff and British teacher Clive Robbins pioneered a new approach to collaborative music-making, designed to engage vulnerable and isolated children. We train music therapists and develop their skills. We research music-making and its potential to inform how we can support our clients and people in challenging situations. In 2023, our music therapy services continued to reach thousands of people up and down the country…
389 partnership organisations worked with, 13,776 people reached with music therapy, and 49,129
music therapy sessions held
