ABOUT US
JAGS Choral Society provides mature voices in support of the girls of James Allen's Girls' School, but also has a musical life of its own. With an exciting and varied annual programme, we deliver three major performances—at Christmas, in the Spring, and in the Summer. Membership is open to all irrespective of affiliation with the school. New voices are always welcome and no audition is required.
JAGS Choral Society (JCS) is an adult choir which usually rehearses every term-time Tuesday evening from 7:30pm to 9:00pm at James Allen's Girls' School in East Dulwich under the baton of the school's Director of Music, Tommy Foster.
JCS started as a group of parents to support school music, especially by adding tenors and basses, and now it exists as a separate choir of up to about 50 singers, including all voices (SATB), made up of parents, ex-parents, friends and people who live in South London - in short, anyone who enjoys singing! It is a very friendly group and welcomes all singers as a community choir.

In a normal year, JAGS Choral Society would perform in Southwark Cathedral in December, St John's, Smith Square or Cadogan Hall in the Spring and then cap the year with a choral-orchestral concert often supported by James Allen Community Orchestra (JACO) to perform a major choral work. The Summer Concert takes place in the Vaughan Williams Auditorium (VWA) at JAGS and is usually held in mid-June.
At Christmas, JCS and JACO usually host a Community Carols event at JAGS to raise money for charity.

In addition to the regular concerts performed each year, JAGS Choral Society performs from time to time in concert with other choirs in the Royal Festival Hall, and other venues, and in concert tours in the UK and abroad.
We particularly welcome new members, and we will look after you when you first come. Taster visits are free so, if you're not sure whether you'd like it, you can come along and see how it feels!
Concessions are available – only the Treasurer will be aware of your arrangement.

We are most grateful to James Allen's Girls' School whose very generous support enables the choir to continue and flourish.
